William NEWELL, who wasmarried to Fereby/Phereby, died in Sumter Co. in 1789. The executorsof his will were Charles STORY and Sutton BYRD. Williams childrenwere: Thomas, James, John, William,Jr, Elias, Mary, and Charles S.All the children went to Mississippi ca 1811, though William returnedto South Carolina. I would like to contact anyone who has informationon any of these people.

What was Hannah Chandler's(1809-1868) maiden name? Hannah is the wife (probably second) ofSamuel Chandler (January 1805-May 6, 1879) of Olanta. They are theparents of Daniel (b. 1829), Eliza (b. 1832), John Thomas (b. 1834),Samuel Mallory (b. 1836), Mariah (b. 1836), and Sarah (b. ?). Samueland Hannah are buried in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery inOlanta, SC.

I am searchingfor more information on Langdon Hastings DINKINS , b. abt 1812 atDINKINS MILL in Sumter. Would like to know the location of this mill.It is supposed to be the site of a Civil War battle. Langdon DINKINSdied after 1870. He was the son of Asa Dinkins and Mary Ann Jennings.He married Frances T. JAMES. I would like to find her parents. Thedaughter of Langdon and Frances T. James Dinkins was CAROLINAVIRGINIA DINKINS who married HENRY MABRY SPANN. They were firstcousins. Henry Mabry Spann was from Capt. RICHARD SPANN of Sumter.Carolina Dinkins and Henry Mabry Spann are buried at ProvidenceCemetery in Providence, SC. I am interested in any information onthese families. I have more Spann information but very little on theDinkins and none on the JAMES family.

I am curious about gettinginfo on my relatives in Sumter. I am a complete novice at genealogy.My grandmother was Rebecca Bagnal Hodge. The Bagnal family has beenresearched extensively, but my grandfather's family has not. His namewas Arthur L. Hodge, Sr. and has been dead for many years. Hisbrother was Cecil Hodge who owned a moving van company in Sumter. Hedied without heirs. I know very little about the Hodge family. Arethere any good sources there that would save me time?
