WILL OF RICHARD SINGLETON

In The Name of God Amen, I Richard Singleton in the State of South Carolina, Horry District, being Sick and weak in body but of a perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God, Calling unto mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all Men Once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, (That is to say) principally and first of all, I give and Recommend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God that gave it, and my Body I Recommend to the Earth, to be Buried in a decent Christian Burial, at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection, I shall Receive the same again by the mighty Power of God; And as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give, devise and dispose of the same, in the following Manner and Form ; -------first it is my Will and, desire that all my Just debts be paid by my Executors hereafter Named Item I give and Bequeath to my dearly beloved Wife, Elizabeth Singleton, One negroe girl named Lizet, one Bay Horse named Liberty at her own disposal Item I give and bequeath to my son Samuel Singleton my Plantation on Waccamaw River containing Five hundred and fifty acres, more or less, one Cow and Yearling, Marked with a Crop and half crop in one ear, and a hole and under bit in the other Item I give and bequeath to my Son in Law Thomas Fearwell Two Dollars Item and all the Remainder of my Estate it is my will and desire that it be Equally divided and each part I lend to each of my Children (my Son Samuel to come in for his proportional part with the rest) during their Lives, but should any of them die without leaving lawfull Issue from there Bodies then the Property to Return and be Equally divided amongst my Surviving Children, And I do hereby nominate and appoint my Two beloved Sons John Singleton and Richard Singleton my Lawfull Executors of this my Last will and Testament And I do hereby utterly disalow, Revoke and disannul all and every other former Testaments, Wills Legacies Bequeaths and Executors by me in any way before named, Willed and bequeathed, Ratifying and Confirming this, and no other, to be my last Will and Testiment, In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this Thirtenth day of September and in the Year of Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and five', and in the Thirtieth Year of the Independence of the United States of America Richard Singleton (Seal) Sealed Signed and aknowledged before us -------------------
