WILL OF JOHN SINGLETON

In the Name of God, amen I. John Singleton of All Saints Parish, District of Horry, Planter, being sick and weak in body, but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding, Do make and declare this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following: that is to say; It is my will and desire that after my debts and funeral expenses be paid that my Estate be then disposed of in the following manner To my two Brothers Richard Singleton and Samuel G. Singleton I give devise and bequeath all my share of the property of every kind to which I am or may be entitled to in the Estate of my Grandfather John Green Senr to be equally divided between my said two Brothers Richard and Samuel, Share and Share alike to have and to hold to them and their heirs forever:- And all the rest and residue of my Estate consisting of three different parcels or tracts of Land known and distinguished by the names of "Gravelly Gulley" "Boggy Gulley" and the other commonly called "Coxes place" together with all my Stock of Cattle and Hogs my Horse Saddle and Bridle my single End double-barrelled Gun, all my household furniture, Books and wearing apparel together with my tools, and all other articles belonging to me not herein enumerated, I do give devise and bequeath unto my Said Brother Samuel G Singleton, to have and to hold to him and his heirs forever, and I wish it to be distinctly understood that the meaning of the word "Heirs" as used in this my Will, is intended to signyfy immediate children lawfully begotten And in consideration of the faithful services and attendance that has been paid to me in my sickness by my Brother Samuels' Girl called Nelly, I do give and bequeath to her the sum of Fifty dollars to be paid to her, as my Executors may think proper, or expended for her in a judicious manner by them, and I further wish it to be particularly and expressly understood as the meaning and intention of this my Will, that no person or persons whatsoever Save and except those already mentioned be allowed under any pretence to interfere with or have any claim to or in my aforesaid Estate. And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my Said Brothers Richard Singleton and Samuel G Singleton to be the Executors of this my last Will and Testament: In testimony whereof I have hereunto affexed my Hand and Seal this twenty fourth day of June in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and twenty four: John Singleton, (Seal) Signed Sealed published and declared be the said John Singleton as and far his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence have subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto
