Rule 1 Business of the
church shall be introduced by preaching or reading, singing and prayer
Rule 2 The pastor or
moderator shall always have the liberty to propose business and keep good
order.
Rule 3 That one officer
and three male members shall be a quorum to transact business.
Rule 4 All matters debated
shall be decided by a majority.
Rule 5 A member speaking
to any subject shall distinguish himself by rising up and addressing the
minister or moderator and if two should rise at a time, he shall determine
which shall speak first and no member shall speak more than twice to the same
subject only to explain.
Rule 6 When any member is
speaking to any subject the rest shall
keep profound silence or be deemed disorderly.
Rule 7 Any male member
failing to attend a church meeting shall come forward at the next and shew the reason and if he should fail three times he shall
be dealt with as a neglecter of duty.
Rule 8 If any female
member should fail three church meetings the cause shall be inquired into and
if found to be willful. Neglect of duty shall be dealt with accordingly.
Rule 9 If any member shall
neglect or refuse to partake of the Lord's supper he shall shew
the reason at that time to the officers or to the church at their next meeting.
Rule 10 The members of colour shall be
dealt with accordingly to their neglect of or want of opportunity at the
discretion of the church.
Rule 11 Any member that
has fought against and they shall be liable to censure if they should mention
the same to another before they have in love laboured
with the offending member as the gospel plainly directs.
Rule 12 A regular list
shall be kept by the clerk of the names of the members of the church and
brought forward every church disciplining day that defaulters may be known.
Rule 13 All members should
keep their seats in time of conference except leave from the moderator.
Rule 14 Any member of this
church who shall retail ardent spirits shall be deemed disorderly and shall be
dealt with as such.Rule 15 Resolved, that the male members of this
church do contribute something annually to keep up a church fund to be disposed
of by the choice of the church George A Dyches,
treasurer. Shall be required that each
member of this church male and female, white and coloured
members shall promptly pay one dollar annually and as much more as they choose
for a church fund to be used for paying a minister and other expenses as the
church may direct. The money to be promptly paid by Saturday
before the second Sabbath in December in each year supplying. And it
shall be the duty of the deacons to collect the money from each member and pay
it over to the treasurer who shall be elected by a vote of the church in the
first part of each year. And it shall be the duty of the treasurer to keep a
book and make a report of the money received, paid out and kept on hand
quarterly in each year. And he shall pay out the money only as directed by the
church. He may be allowed One dollar a year to pay for paper or books.
Rule 16 Resolve that a
common school shall not be taught in this church without the consent of the
church in her conference.

in conference Saturday before the first Lords day in September 1843. After preaching by brother N Walker and
brother J Brooker a door was opened for the reception
of members into the church at which time there being three received by letter
from the Friendship Church, namely sisters Jane Ray, Lucinda Still and Frances Kersh. The opportunity being closed the church brought to
business, first the association letter being bound for, read and approved.
Being nothing else before the church, we closed in the usual way.

in conference Saturday before the first Lords day in October, 1843. Having no preaching, Brother James Still
prayed at which time we opened a door for the reception of members at which
time there were four received. Two
candidates for baptism namely Frances Abstent and
Elizabeth Abstent. And brother
Thomas Still and brother Edmund Bird restored. Having nothing else to come before
the church we dismissed in the usual way. James L Still, moderator, R Chitty,

in conference Saturday before the first Lords day in November, 1843. After preaching by Brother John Yeomans we proceeded to the business of the church. Having
nothing to come before the church we dismissed in the usual way.

in conference Saturday before the first Lords day in December, 1843. After preaching by Brother N Walker the
church proceeded to business. First proceeded to the call of
a preacher to supply us the insuing year. Brother John Brooker being called by a
majority. The call was voted and received.
Second,
proceeded to grant by request our sister Mary Elkins, wife of Levi Elkins a
letter of dismission which was granted. The clerk being authorized
to write the letter and forward the same.
Third, proceeded
to make some preparations to relieve the necessities of our sister, Delilah
Whaley which was done and we dismissed as usual. George A Dyches,
clerk.

in conference Saturday before the first Lords day in January, 1844. After preaching by J Brooker
the church proceeded to business in taken up the case of brother
Welch. He not being present, it was laid over until our next meeting. Second,
taken up the case of brother William Abstent Jr. It was laid over until our next meeting. A
committee being appointed to labour with the
offending brother, namely brother James Still and brother R Chitty. having nothing more to come before the church we closed in
the usual way.

the first Lords day in February, 1844. After preaching by Brother J Brooker the church proceeded to business. First took up the
case of brother J Welch. He making satisfaction was again restored to
fellowship again. Second took up the case of brother Abstent
Jr. and it was still continued until our next meeting. The committee, brother J
Still and brother R Chitty still continue to labour
with him and in conjunction, brother Isaac H Still is
added. Third took up the case of brother C Still for disorder. His case also laid over until our next meeting and appointed a committee
to labour with him namely John Brooker
and Kindred Delk. Having nothing more to come before
the church we closed in the usual way.

case of brother Abstent again and still continued it
again until our next meeting. Second taken up the case of brother
Charles Still and restored him to fellowship again and closed in the usual way.

the church proceeded to business. First took up
the case of brother Abstent which had been laid over
for some time. In the committee appointed to labour
with him return an unfavourable report about which
the church thought proper to excommunicate him which was done. Second taken in
consideration the case of brother Altman Dyches which
have been moved away for a letter of dismission.
The church agreed to write to brother to request him to get the church which he
wishes to join to join him in his petition as we don't know what his conduct
might have been since he left here. The clerk being
authorized to write back to the brother. Having no more to attend to we
were dismist in the usual way.

dismission. The church granted her one and
authorized the clerk to forward the same and we closed as usual.Met

church proceeded to business. First proceeded to grant our
sister Elizabeth Browning a letter of dismission to
join the Choctahatchy Church in the State of Alabama.
Second proceeded to establish a rule to keep up a church fund for the use of
the church and elected brother George A Dyches treasurer. Having nothing more to come before the
church we were dismist in the usual way.

church laid over his case until our next conference and appointed a committee
to cite him namely brethren Jacob Delk and Isaac H
Still to be that committee also our brethren K Delk
and D Bloom for long absence. Brethren R Chitty and D McClendon appointed to
attend our next meeting. Having nothing more before the church we closed in the
usual way.

motion of the church was excommunicated. Also the case of brother

satisfactory acknowledgment were again restored. Having nothing more

received and entitled to all privileges of the church, then closed in the usual

Dawson followed by an exertation by brother Ray the
church proceeded to business. Having nothing to come before the church we

Brother R Chitty being one of the committee appointed on our last conference to
cite his attention and converse with him on the subject of the charge reported
on which the church thought to excommunicate him which was done unanimous. Second taken up the motion made last conference respecting absent
members. Therefore resolved that the clerk write down every conference
the names of all male members present by which absentees may be known. Third a
report respecting brother William Ross being guilty of
drinking too much. His being present give satisfaction was again restored to

Recording to
previous appointment a union meeting taken place at Double Pond Church on
Friday before the fifth Sabbath in June 1845 at which time on Sabbath there
were a collection taken up for the purpose of domestic use in the bounds of our association amounting to five dollars
45 cts. and lodged in the
hands of the treasurer, by whom attended J Brooker, Wm J Fickling, J Tyler, L
Zeigler.

chosen next meeting and closed as usual.

Second authorized the clerk to write the association letter.
Thirdly received sister Mary Free who had previously
been dismissed by letter. Dismissed in the usual manner.

in conference Saturday before the second Lords day in September. After preaching by brethren D Peoples and J Brooker proceeded to business. First
received sister Rebecca Williams into the church by letter. Second, read
and reviewed the Association letter. Third, granted sisters Mary Robinson and
Martha Ann Smith letters of dismission by the request
of brother ____ of
Charleston. Fourth, excommunicated sister Nancy Ross
for indecent conduct. Adjourned.

1847
Met in
conference, after preaching by brothers John Nix and J Brooker
the church proceeded to business. First,
a partition for letters of dismission, namely sisters
Delilah Whaley and Sarah Hair. Second, partition was laid into the
church for a letter of dismission for sister Allman.
The church thought proper to direct a letter to the Long Branch Church to know
whether they will receive her on our letter as she has been so long absent.

after reading, singing and prayer, the minutes were read and proceeded to
business. First took up the case of brother Jacob
Whaley and excused him. Second took up the case of brother
Wm Nix and for not attendance continued his case and
the same committee to wait on him. Third took up the case of brother
William Abston and excused him. Fourth took up the
case of brother Dan'l Blume
and he was excused. Fifth Sister Ann Kirkland came forward and on account of
her long absence was on account of her long distance and not for any other
cause and would have applied sooner but did not wish to leave us and that she
hated to leave the church, her old home and granted her a letter. Took up a
case against brother Henry Free and the clerk to have
a letter and send him to know what was his wish or standing where he lives.
Also the case of brother Thomas Still for neglect of duty and that the clerk
write a letter requesting him to come and shew his
cause for neglect of duty and closed the usual way.

Williams, E Whaley, J Delk, E Miles, G Nevils, J Brooker. The committee
reported the case as excluded which was agreed to by the church. Delegated brethren John Brooker, James Stille and John Chitty. Alternates,
G Dyches, J Delk and Wm Chitty and closed in the usual way.
September the 7th
1850

The church proceeded to business. A door was opened and received three
candidates for baptism, namely Wiett Lancaster,
Elizabeth Lancaster and William Gillam. We had no
action for the church. Read and approved the Association letter and closed in
the usual way. Then received Lucy Templeton and on the Sabbath the next day
received two others, namely Daniel Bodiford and Orie Carroll.

opened and received sister Martha Shipes as a
candidate for baptism and restored our brother Charley Still. Having nothing
for the action of the church we closed in the usual way.

offender of their duty. A case was taken up agaainst
brother Gillam for immoral conduct and appointed a
committee to cite the brother to attend at our next meeting, namely brother J L
Still and closed in the usual way.

Second a case was taken up against brother Benjamin
Carroll for drunkeness and his case was continued

commitee, namely J F Chitty, William R Chitty and Wyet Lancaster to cite him to attend and show the cause.
Fourth a case against brother Jesse Joiner for sueing brother William Gillam and
his case stand over till our next and brother Lancaster a committee to cite the
brother to attend at our next meeting. Fifth went into the election of a deacon
to fill the vacancy occasioned by the death of our brother Daniel McClendon and
elected our brother, John F Chitty and closed in the usual way.

The church proceeded to business. A door was opened and received Martain J Chitty as a candidate for baptism. Second, took
