The group was formed in October 1996 by local people who had a common interest in Genealogy, and was later expanded to include local history.
The interests of members extends to countries all over the world and help is available to all members whether novice or experienced researcher. There are four special interest Groups to help members with their research, England, Scottish, Irish and Australian groups, and one for computer users (for anyone who finds their computer is in charge of them, instead of the other way around!). To better facilitate contact between members, there is also a members-only group mailing list, where questions and information can be posted at any time.
We hold many resources, including records on CD-Rom available by appointment (contact the Acting Secretary) and in books, including many on Genealogy research and local history. For more information about the group, please see the Joining page and also read our Privacy Statement here.
In October 2008 our group was nominated for an award from the Every Generation Onkaparinga Celebrating Seniors project run by the City of Onkaparinga. Whilst we didn't win the award, we are very proud to have been nominated.
