Whittenberg genealogy

Piglet's Genealogy Pages:
The Whittenbergs

The Whittenbergs are descendants of Henry Michael Wurtenberger who was born somewhere in what is now Germany about 1700 (probably Württemburg, but this is unproven), and traveled through Pennsylvania and North Carolina to settle in Tennessee, Missouri, and other parts west.
A part of Cass Township in Greene County, Missouri, was originally known as Whittenberg Prairie, and the cemetery there now known as the Coble Cemetery was originally known as Whittenberg Cemetery. This is where the earliest members of the family in Greene County to die are likely buried (Peter, Mary, and daughter in law Nancy) but their stones no longer remain.

Documentation of relationships is variable, not all these links are certain. Please don't take this site as "gospel" but rather as "to the best of my knowledge right now."
