Passenger Ships to Pictou ---1767-1858

assenger Ships to Pictou

1767 - 1858

IMPORTANT NOTICE -- PLEASE READ!

Yes, there may -seem- to be duplicate entries for a particular ship, in this list. While I am working from compilations from other genealogist's work [please see the titles listed at the bottom], and I haven't seen the original documents, I've chosen to err on the side of "all the possibilities" and make separate entries when the information isn't a complete duplicate. It's a chicken stance to take, but I would hate to think that someone using this list might miss a file because the name of the ship they had in their family history didn't entirely jibe with the actual name of the vessel. Until you have the actual document in your hand, and it gives you the information about your particular ancestor, you -must- know all the possible names (or dates, or tonnage, or ship's captain, or...... on and on... ) well, you get my drift hopefully.

If there is NOT a hotlink to a specific passenger list, ie, the Sarah or the Dove, I do NOT have the list you are interested in. The ships listed here are being extracted and compiled as a masterlist and a starting point for your research. At this point, I have no plans to put further passenger lists up. If someone from our readership has the passenger list of any of the ships listed below, and wishes to donate it to the site for others to use, I will certainly make room for it, and place it on the site. You can contact me directly at Webmaster, if you have a passenger list. Please be sure to state in your subject line the Name, year, and starting point for the list in your subject line. We can then make arrangements to get the list, and it will be put in the 'to do' pile. You will also be given the option of having an email link to your own address, if you want to hear from others who are interested in the same vessel.

If the actual passenger lists still exist, and they started their voyage in Scotland, you would need to contact the Scottish Records Office, or SRO, in order to enquire as to how to purchase copies of the list. If the voyage originated in Ireland, you would probably have to locate the Irish equivalent of the SRO. A good starting point on the web when searching for Scottish (or any other nationality) records is Cyndi's Lists .
