Cemetery Name: Franklin (Quaker) Cemetery  



Location: Southwest of Marianna in West Bethlehem Twp., Washington Co., PA. 

Background: The earliest grave with a readable marker is 1784. This is believed to be an old Quaker burial ground. Surnames in this cemetery are: Bigler, Braden, Buckingham, Buffington, Craig, Engle, Evans, Greenlee, Hathaway, Hoover, Iams, Imes, Lewis, Martin, Macham, McAfee, McFarland, Mitchell, Moore, Nicholls, Schroy, Scott, Shidler, Smith, Spencer, Woodruff, Young, Zollar. There are some unreadable stones and some hand-carved stones with initials only. There are 2 Revolutionary War Soldiers buried here. They are: John Buckingham, d. Dec. 1, 1794, age 53 yrs. 20 da.; Abel McFarland, d. Sep. 23, 1831, age 66 yrs.
