Sugar Ridge House

We are indebted to Deb Wilson for the photos presented here, and to Carol Brotzman, Larry Pardoe and Melanie "MellY" Norton for background and commentary. Sadler Rogers was what in today's world we would call a polymath, an individual of wide ranging and highly skilled talents. In this regard, he resembles Melvin Lewis, the Edison of Hillsgrove, who also emanated from Sullivan County.

Melly tells us that this was the last house that Sadler Rogers built, and he built most of the two story farm houses in the vicinity. It is said that when he finished this one, he said it was the best he'd ever done. Curiously, it is also the only home where he put filagree in the roof peak. At one time, a Hunsinger lived there, but the structure was owned at the time these photos were taken by the Cullen family.
