Snyder County Churches

The information below lists facts about churches in Snyder County in existence prior to 1900. Church record information, where available, is also listed. Check the Bibliography page for further information on the churches and their denominations.

NOTE: In the earliest days, many Lutheran and Reformed congregations worshipped in the same building and worshipped with their own pastor. However, church records show that some families had baptisms, for example, in both the Lutheran and the Reformed Church registers. The researcher should check both the Lutheran and Reformed registers for their families. Eventually, these Lutheran and Reformed "union" arrangements broke up, either with one or the other or both congregations building their own church, or one or both of the congregations dying out.
