Thomas Steel applied for pension Oct 17, 1836 while a resident of Monroe county Virginia, aged 84 yearsAnd alledged that he was drafted for six months in Chester County, Pa, in August 1776 and served under Capt Marsh and Col Moor, but left the service a short time before his six months expired after procuring a substitute and went home to see his sick wife, her name not given.
Also that he was later drafter in Lancaster County Pa in 1778, but was never ordered into service
His claim was not allowed, as he did not serve 6 months as required.
