HENRY C. BLYSTONE. One of the worthy citizens
of Greensburg is Henry C. Blystone. He is a son of Henry and Barbara (Overly)
Blystone, and was born January 8, 1839, in Mount Pleasant.
Henry C. Blystone was educated in the common schools
of his native county, and at the age of sixteen left school in order to learn
the carpenter's trade, which he has followed ever since. In 1864 he enlisted
in Company I, One Hundred and Sixty-eighth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers,
commanded by Colonel Jack, of Mount Pleasant, and served until the close
of the war. He is a Republican in politics. He married, February 5, 1865,
Rebecca J Griffin, and seventeen children were born to them, fourteen of
whom are now living: Anna L., born September 23, 1865; Sarah J., born July
19, 1867; Mary E., born January 14, 1869; Emma Z., born March 19, 1879, died
at the age of three years and twenty-one days: John G., born October 27,
1871; Lizzie B., born March 2, 1873; George H. and Edward L (twins), born
August 28, 1875; George H., died at the age of twenty-two years; William
R., born April 18, 1878; Nettie B., born January 24, 1880; Orie Robert,
born August 20, 1881; Clarence P., born July 13, 1883, died at the age of
six months; Cecilie M., and Lelia A. (twins), born March 15, 1885; James
G. Blaine, born May 7, 1887; and Ira F and Harry M (twins), born June 13,
1889.
