William Carroll Rev. William Carroll, a Presiding Elder in the Erie Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, was a native of Washington County, Penn., but moved to Mercer County, same State, in an early day; he there married Rachel Sutton, a native of Maryland. They spent one year (1849) in this county, but returned to Mercer County, where they ended their days. They were parents of eleven children.
