Obituary 

Rev. W. A. Merriam, for some years pastor of the Clarkesville M. E. Church and later of the Shakleyville charge died at Edenburg, Lawrence county, Saturday afternoon [2 Mar 1895] and was buried at Clarksville Tuesday.  He was a member of the G.A.R. and a vigorous exponent in the pulpit, and was held in the highest esteem.
