REV. SAMUEL Mc. ANDERSON, D. D., was born Dec. 18, 1823, on the old Anderson farm [in Venango County] where William McGinnis now lives. At 19 years of age he entered Butler Academy. After spending two terms there, he entered Washington college 1844, graduating from same in 1846. After spending three years in the Western Theological Seminary he graduated in 1851. Next year he was ordained and installed pastor of Fredericksburg, O., where he remained eight years. He was for ten years pastor at Davenport, Ia., ten years at Hamilton, O., and eight years at Eldorado, Kan. He still lives in Eldorado, but since 1888 on account of failing health and approaching age has retired from the active ministry.
