WILL GO TO ALASKA IN EVANGELISM CRUSADE

The Rev. Howard M. Pape, pastor of the Perrysville Avenue Methodist church of the Northside, Pittsburgh, has been chosen as on of a group of twenty ministers and laymen of the Methodist church to lead in a visitation
evangelism crusade in Alaska.  The crusade will be held from March 13-26,
and covering eighteen fields of Methodist activity in the far areas of the
North American continent.  The mission is being sponsored by the Board of
Home Missions and the Board of Evangelism of the Methodist church.
Guest workers for the crusade will travel to Seattle, Wash., where a
briefing conference will be held under the leadership of Bishop Gerald
Kennedy, who will direct an intensified training period of instruction
relative to the work to be done in Alaska.  The airplane will be used as the
main source of travel from Seattle to all the mission stations in Alaska.
The Rev. Mr. Pape has been assigned to direct the work at the fast growing city of Douglas, Alaska, which is the twin city of the capital, Juneau.  The last few days of the crusade will be spent in the area surrounding Anchorage, where a great Methodist mass meeting for all Alaskan Methodism will be held.

The Pittsburgh clergyman expects to be back in his own pulpit on March 20, after having covered a distance of over 10,000 miles by plane and railway travel.

Mr. Pape is the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Pape of Canonsburg, former
McDonald residents.  He was graduated from McDonald high school in 1927.
