Son of Herman and Marie Anna Wolfhope

Volunteered on March 2, 1864 at age 23 years
Mustered in at Harrisburg, Camp Curtin on March 4, 1864 with the 184th PA Volunteers, Company A
The 184th joined the Army of the Potomac in the field on May 28, 1864 attached to 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 2nd Army Corps
The 184th fought at the Rapidan (Va.) Campaign May 28-June 12;   Totopotomoy May 28-31;   Cold Harbor June 1-12;   Before Petersburg June 16-18 and   Siege of Petersburg June 16, 1864 to April 2, 1865 and more.
John Wolfhope was captured at Petersburg on June 22nd; confined at Richmond until June 29th when he was sent to Lynchburg and on to Andersonville, Georgia
Oddly, he received a draft notice on July 14, 1864 while at Andersonville
John Died of dysentery on October 4, 1864 at Andersonville Prison
