1. The Mifflin County Historical Society will answer genealogical inquiries for a charge of $25.00 per surname. A general search will be conducted and sources checked may include: our indexed histories, printed genealogies, files of marriages and death records, cemetery records, census, newspaper files and any research done by our staff or others in the past.

2. The Society charges a separate fee for courthouse work (deeds, wills, marriage licenses, etc.) The fee: $10.00 for courthouse research, $10.00 per hour prorated, plus cost of copies and postage. If you wish to have courthouse work done, please alert our research staff and send the minimum fee of $10.00.

3. Photocopies of necessary records and mailing costs are not included in the $25.00 search fee. Xerox copies are $0.15 each and microfilm copies are $0.25 each.

4. A report will be sent to you by the researcher listing any information found and sources cited.

5. Please be specific in stating your request. We will no longer accept requests for “all you have on the Smith family.”  These requests will be returned causing a delay.  We ask that you present a detailed list of questions reflecting the information you hope to have us find.  If you have used any online resources, please let us know so that sources are not duplicated which will help to better manage our time and your money.

    If possible state:

b. Birth and/or death dates, or any approximate dates known.
c. Location in Mifflin County where person was supposed to have lived.
