Featuring it's ad for Stines & Wingate Clothing Store and their $10 suits, Carmen Bridge was one of the most well known and oldest of Erie County.  Standing on McKee Rd., the structure was built by W.  Sherman sometime around 1870.  In 1979 it was added to the National Registry of Historic Sites.  Different projects had been undertaken in it many years to preserve the old bridge.  One such plan for a complete renovation was in the works between Conneaut and Springfield officials, when a fire on the morning of April 19, 1996 destroyed the structure.  Plans for a new bridge have been circulating in public for years, but the structure has not been replaced.
