This photo of the Rininger's Woolen Mills in Kantner, PA was taken ca 1894. John Kantner established a fulling mill at Sprucetown in 1836. It is the very building that Don Rininger's great-great-grandfather, William Rininger, bought in 1884 from Osborne and Cover. William Rininger covered the brick structure with white clapboard siding soon after the purchase. Don Rininger recently visited the building which is still standing, and he was delighted with his find. On the second floor there is a door in the mill, and on the back of the door are the initials "J.F.K." and "J.H.K.", which stand for John F. Kantner and his father. The building is located at the junction of highways 30 and 304.
