GO1784 Bedford County

Taken from the Pennsylvania Archives, this is an alphabetical listing of the 1784 Quemahoning Township, Bedford County census.

GO1800 Federal Census

This census was begun on 4 Aug 1800. Joseph Parks was the enumerator for Somerset County in the year 1800. For the entire county of Somerset, he reported the following:

The foregoing Enumeration of Somerset county amounting in the aggregate to "Ten thousand one hundred and ninety eight" souls, is True and Accurate, according to the best of my knowledge and ability--Joseph Parks, Somerset April 18th 1801.

The 1830 census was begun on 1 Jun 1830. It was the first census for which the government provided printed forms for the enumerators' use. Since it does not provide visitation and dwelling numbers, I have left this census in the order in which it was taken by enumerator Peter Hugus.

The 1850 census was begun on 1 June 1850, and the enumeration was to be completed within five months. This census is listed in the order in which the enumerator visited each household. To reduce loading time, it has been broken into two files: Part 1: Pages 132-141 and Part 2: Pages 142-152. There are some instances in which portions from the microfilm are illegible. Please check the original film to see whether what was written can be ascertained.

GO1860 Federal Census

The 1860 census was begun on 1 June 1860, and the enumeration was to be completed within five months. This census is listed in the order in which the enumerator visited each household. To reduce loading time, it has been broken into two files: Part 1: Pages 9 (375) - 22 (388) and Part 2: Pages 23 (389) - 38 (404). For entries that were difficult to read, please check the original film to see whether what was written can be ascertained.
