Butler County Naturalizations
1800 - 2000

This is an index of naturalizations in Butler County, PA that   occurred from 1800 through 1994.  For at least the first 100 years plus, only the head of the family was naturalized and that covered everyone in the family, including married sons and their families.


There is one major problem with this index.  The index where part of this information was obtained has the given names in alphabetical order.  As we typed we had no way of knowing if a person's name was Charles William or William Charles.  Please be aware of this as you search for your ancestors and if you are looking for a William, you will have to include any that have William as a middle name.


For the naturalizations without a date, there may be several reasons for that.  The person may have filed his letter of intent in Butler County and then been naturalized in another county, or some of them came in under age and the date of the naturalization is the same as the letter of intent and they did not include that date in the main index, or the person never completed his naturalization process even though he had filed his letter of intent.  But if a name shows up in this index, there is a paper filed here with that person's name on it.  Although we have done our best to make this work complete, we make no claim that this index includes the names of all persons naturalized in Butler County, PA or as to the correct spelling of these surnames.
