5th Regiment Pennsylvania Infantry
(Militia - 3 Months, 1861)




The 5th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry was organized at Camp Curtin, Harrisburg, on 20 April 1861. The regiment moved to Philadelphia on 22 April 1861, and then to Perryville and Annapolis, Maryland, on 23 April. The unit next moved to Washington, D. C., on 27 April. The unit was at Alexandria, Va., on 28 May and then removed to Shutter's Hill by 3 June. The 5th was then attached to McDowell's Army of Northeast Virginia. They served with McDowell's Army at Alexandria, Virginia until they were mustered out, having fulfilled their 3 month commitment. The 5th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry was mustered out on 25 July 1861.
