129th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry
The 129th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry was organized at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in August, 1862. The unit moved to Washington, D. C., August 16. and duty there till September 12. The unit was then moved to Sharpsburg, Maryland, and was attached to 1st Brigade. 3rd Division, 5th Army Corps, Army of the Potomac. The regiment saw duty at Sharpsburg, Maryland, till October 30th. Assigned ti perform reconnoissance from Sharpsburg to Smithfield, W. Virginia, October 16-17. Movement to Falmouth, Virginia, October 30-November 19. Engaged in the Battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia, December 12-15. Burnside's 2nd Campaign, "Mud March," January 20-24, 1863. At Falmouth till April. The unit was engaged in the Chancellorsville Campaign April 27-May 6 and the Battle of Chancellorsville May 1-5. The unit was mustered out on May 18, 1863.
The 129th Regiment lost during service 3 Officers and 37 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 1 Officer and 42 Enlisted men by disease. Total 83.
