I'm looking for the date of death and final resting place for James Mordecai DAVIS. James was born July 17, 1835 in Sangamon Co. IL. He lived a good portion of his life in Harrison Co. Missouri before hitting the Oregon trail with his kids.

James and wife Delina (or Delila) DAVIS are found in the 1900 federal census for Clark Co. Washington. James is listed in the 1910 federal census for Clark Co. Washington as a widower living with his oldest son Joseph Caldwell DAVIS. James is not listed in the 1920 Clark Co. Washington census so far as I can tell. The LDS FHC lists James as dying and being buried in Moro, Oregon but they do not list a date.

I'd appreciate it if someone could look at the county records for James Mordecai DAVIS to confirm this.

CARR, Rebecca -- BINGHAM, Sarah. My 4 great grandmother, Rebecca CARR was visiting her daughter Sarah BINGHAM and family around the turn of the century. Rebecca CARR was from Missouri but died in Oregon during the visit. A John BINGHAM and Sarah BINGHAM are listed in the 1880 census for then Wasco County. This could have included Sherman County at the time. John and Sarah are too young to be my Sarah but could have been a son and daughter in law. They are listed in Lone Rock Precinct but I don't know where that is. Trying to locate death date and burial place for Rebecca CARR. Any help is appreciated.

Does anyone have information on Nish Road and/or the old site of Nish? I have a brochure, "A Guide to Oregon Trails in Sherman County, Oregon." Item 15 on the brochure is Nish: "The old site of Nish is at the junction of Highway 206 and Nish Road. The Cutoff to the Barlow Road passed along Grass Valley Canyon. Nish Road crosses a stream here." Is there more background about the site, like where its name came from and what was there during the Oregon Trail days? I was there this summer and all I could find was the road sign and where the road crosses the stream. Any information would be appreciated. David Nishitani, 961 NW Hayes, #13, Corvallis, OR 97330
