Welcome to Multnomah County!

This page is in rough duplication to the original Multnomah County GenWeb site. In order to update some structures, the front page is being redesigned.

Multnomah County is located along the northern border of the state of Oregon, near the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers. While the smallest county in size, it is the largest county in population. Portland is the county's, and the state's, largest city.

Multnomah County is bordered on the west by Columbia and Washington Counties, on the south by Clackamas County, and on the east by Hood River County. To the north are Clark County and Skamania County in Washington State.

To see the layout of the counties, check out this map(~12K) courtesy of Duane Pierce.

The Oregon State Archives has a nice history of the county.

This page is part of the USGenWeb Project. Modeled after the Kentucky GenWeb Project which was organized by a group of genealogists in March and April 1996, the idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky, where collected databases would be stored. In June 1996, it was decided to expand the project to include all states.
