Head over to the Smoky Valley Genealogical Society's web site. Test yourself on their 8th grade exam…..from 1895. It gives a new meaning to only having an 8th grade education.

For those with Ancestors in Douglas County, we're including a link to the Douglas County, Oregon Cemeteries web page - it provides a comprehensive list of burial sites in this county. It also contains some links to online lists of who's buried in some of these places.

Some interesting links Endorsed by our web master; First I want to mention heritage quest, for those living in the Lower Umpqua can use our local library with their card number; Douglas County Library Databases after logging into that page, find the Heritage Quest button top center right of the page. Those with Coos County Library cards will find it at; Coos Bay Library Resources almost dead center on the page. Click on the link and log on with your card number. My other favorite new genealogy resource is Google Books; make your regular search / search within results and then at the top of the page, above the box for entering your search info is the word "more" use it to pull down and click on "books." If you find a book of interest that is set up so you can read all or parts of it, it is also searchable in the right hand column.

I have some extra copies of some previous newsletters; Les.
