COLE posted by Brunetta Lafara Lingg on Sunday, February 1, 1998

COLE Seeking contact with any descendants of James COLE. James is registered with a Douglas County (Roseburg Office) Donation Land Grant dated 19 May 1866. His wife (1870 Census - Oakland Post Office, Calapooia Preceint, Douglas County) was Louisa ?? COLE (b. 1824 Tennessee). They were married in 1843 in Missouri. His oldest son, George COLE was born 1849 Missouri. His other children were all born in Oregon: Sidney COLE (1851), Charles COLE (1853), Hannibal COLE (1855), Bruce COLE (1859), James COLE (1861), and Joel COLE (1865). I believe James COLE to be the brother of my ancestor, Henry COLE (1811 Kentucky) and son of Francis COLE (1777 Virginia).

BUCEY, FOX, WALKER posted by Steve Stuckey on Tuesday, February 17, 1998

In the late 1800s, Mary Azalee BUCEY(???) met a travelling salesman (name unknown) in either Tennesee or Kentucky. They married and moved to Texas. The Salesman died of a fever in Texas, and Mary Azalee married Elisha Philip FOX. Philip became ill and the doctor told them to move to a cooler climate or Philip would not last another summer. They then struck out on the Oregon trail and first settled in California. They had 5 known children. Mary Melvina, b. ca 1892 in St, Helena, Ca. (in the Napa Valley). Ellen Eunice, Otto Olea, Hamilton Hinkle, Newman Lucretia. Philip was a stonemason and helped build the city hall in Dunsmuir, Ca. Ultimately, they would up in Oregon. Mary Melvina married Loius Daniel WALKER and had two sons (George and ?) and four daughters (Maralee, Wilma, Myrna, and Muriel). If anyone has any information on any part of this family, especially Mary Azalee or Mary Melvina I would love to make contact.
