Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area - 41 miles of spectacular sand dunes extending from North Bend to Florence. 32,000 acres of open dunes, grasslands, marshes and forest lands. Nature trails, surf and lake fishing. Dune buggies and ATV's permitted in some areas Primary access at Horsfall Dune & Beach Access Road off Hwy 101.  Currently there is a $3.00 per car access charge.

Sunset Bay State Park - a landlocked and wind-protected bay SW of Charleston, near Cape Arago & Shore Acres State Parks. Camping area provides 75 tent campsites, 34 electrical sites and 29 trailer spaces with full utility hookups. Park includes a broad, sandy beach with boat launch ramp, multiple picnic areas [including gazebos that may be reserved], many trails for hiking connecting to Cape Arago and Shore Acres State Parks,  extensive tide pools at low tide and excellent fishing, swimming and skin diving opportunities.


Bastendorff Beach County Park - 2 miles SW of Charleston. Panoramic view of Coos Bay bar, jetties and sunsets. RV parking year round. Covered shelters for group use. For more information (541) 888-5353.


South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve - 5 miles S of Charleston on Seven Devils Rd. First estuarine reserve in nation, 4,400 acres of freshwater streams, saltwater marshes, many species of plants and animals. Nature trails, interpretive center, boardwalk and tide flats. Whiskey Run Beach - located off Seven Devils Road, about 8 miles S of Charleston. Picnic area, restrooms, variety of agates, including flower jasper, agitated myrtle, etc.


Tugman State Park -- located 13 miles N of North Bend off Hwy 101. Covered picnic areas, campground. Includes access to Tenmile Lake for fishing, swimming, playground areas and room for games. Open mid-May thru Labor Day.


Bullards Beach - located off Hwy 101 just north of the Coquille River above Bandon. Playgrounds, picnic areas and beach access.


Additional campgrounds [with varying accommedations] are located at Nesika Park, near Gold & Silver Falls; LaVerne Park, NW of Fairview; Ham Bunch Cherry Creek Park; Frona Park; Bennett Park; Powers Park. For more information contact the Coos County Parks Dept. at (541)396-3121, ext. 354.
