The Reference Department has an Obituary File and Biography Index of local residents. The Thunder Bay Index (TBI) is a catalogue of the contents of several local newspapers and magazines. TBI is available at the Waverley and the Brodie branches. TBI is also available on computer disk for schools and interested individuals. The Operations Department (807 684-6815) has more information.

Thunder Bay District Branch library
The Branch library is housed at the Brodie branch of the Thunder Bay Library. They also have microfilms of historical census materials. The Reference Department has a number of guides to genealogy and books on surnames, clans, and passenger lists.
