Transcribed here by Linda Herman Pioneers of Prince Edward County BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES WILLIAM NETHERY Had settled in New Brunswick before moving on to Prince Edward Co. William Nethery was born in Ireland. He resided for a time , in New Brunswick, but eventually moved to Picton in Prince Edward County, where his sister resided. William Nethery worked as a teacher in Hallowell, then Ameliasburgh and Hillier. He also served as tax collector in Hillier. Nethery and his wife, Nancy Britton, had nine children: Alexander, Wilmot, Launcelot, Prudence, Alexander, Stephen, Sarah, Nancy and Miriam. The first Alexander died, as a child, while in New Brunswick, and the second Alexander only lived to the age of twenty-four. Wilmot also died young, at nineteen, and unmarried. Launcelot married Sarah Clark and settled in Hillier. Their seven children were Prudence, Gertrude, Frances, Nancy B., Margaret, William and Wilmot. William and Nancy Nethery's fourth child, Prudence, married James McDonald and settled in Hillier. The couple had one son who died as a baby. Stephen married Sarah Weeks, and they moved to British Columbia. Miriam, the youngest of the pioneer's offspring, settled in Durham County with her husband, Albert Spinks. Sarah Nethery and her husband, Josiah B. Wilson, had five sons: Stephen, Hiram, William, Alfred C., and Ralph P. Sarah and Josiah Wilson settled in Hillier.
