Thomas Noble, originally from Nottingham, England, settled in Athol, Prince Edward County, in the early 1800's. Thomas Noble's ten children comprised the second generation of Nobles in the country. His children were: John, Sarah, Harriet, Diana, Elizabeth, Jotham, David, Mary, Thomas and Matilda. The eldest child, John Noble became a farmer in Athol. He and his first wife, Ann Stephens, had a daughter, Bella. John and his second wife, Sarah Sivyer, were the parents of Ethel M., Edith M., Sherman E., Percy and John N. Harriet Noble and her husband, Peter Scott, became the parents of Manly, Amanda, and Norman. They settled at Point Petre. David Noble married Caroline E. Reynolds. They settled at Salmon Point and had one child, Hattie. Mary Noble lived in Picton with her husband, Charles Trusdale. They were the parents of Elgin and Frank. The youngest child born to Thomas Noble was the only other member of the second generation Nobles to settle in Prince Edward County. Matilda and her husband, George Thibault, settled in Athol to raise their son Eugene.
