Transcribed here by Linda Herman Pioneers of Prince Edward County BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES PAUL CLARK Paul and Mehetable settled in Bloomfield in 1798. Paul Clark settled close to Bloomfield in 1798. He married Mehetabel Palen, of Dutch and English descent, who lived in Athol Township on the south side of East Lake. Mehetabel's father was a carpenter and fine craftsman. He assisted in erecting and supervising many of the lovely dwellings and public buildings in Prince Edward County. Pauls' first child, Susan married Guy H. Young and settled in Athol. His first son, Palen, married Gertrude Minaker, and Stephen, Paul's second son, married Elizabeth Pierce. The names Minaker and Pierce are well-known and respected in the county. Paul's second daughter, Mary A., married William Welbanks, son of a United Empire Loyalist, while Maria, his youngest daughter, settled in Athol with her husband, Sheldon Dulmage, who served in the Light Horse Cavalry in the Rebellion of 1837.
