Transcribed here by Linda Herman Pioneers of Prince Edward County BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES THE OSTRANDER FAMILY Samuel and Isaac were brothers from Albany, New York. The Ostranders who settled in Prince Edward County were Loyalists. Samuel and Isaac Ostrander were brothers who left Albany, New York, and settled in Marysburgh in 1796. Through two marriages, Samuel Ostrander became the father of seventeen children. Most of his offspring also settled in Prince Edward County. Samuel's first wife was Isabella Collier. Samuel and Isabella became the parents of nine children. Nancy Roblin Wright was Samuel's second wife and the mother of Samuels other eight children. William Ostrander was the second child born to Samuel and Isabella. He settled in S. Marysburgh also and was married three times. His wives were Phoebe Palmatier, Irene Cole and Eliza Hudgin. Peter, Samuel, Oliver and Deborah were other children of Samuel and Isabella Ostrander who settled in South Marysburgh with their spouses. Peter married Rebecca Ackerman. Samuel and his wife Christina Head became the parents of nine children who also settled in Prince Edward County. These grandchildren of the pioneer, Samuel, were Lewis, Nancy, David, Peter, Ellen, Clarinda, Harriet, Dora, and Jane. Oliver Ostrander married Clarinda Wanamaker, a descendant of another pioneer family. They became the parents of George and Mary. Deborah Ostrander married John Wellbanks. Edward Ostrander was a son of Samuel and Isabella: he moved to Northumberland County when he married Jane Schreider. Edward's sister, Lydia settled in Athol when she married Garret Garrison. The youngest child born to Isabella and Samuel Osborne was Sarah. She married Hiram Welbanks. Mary was the first child born to Nancy and Samuel Ostrander. She married Thomas Giles. Another daughter, Hannah, never married. Jemima Ostrander married Robert Kelly and settled in Athol. Norman, a son of Nancy and Samuel Ostrander married Angeline Farrington. His second wife was a Mrs. Palmatier. Norman settled in South Marysburgh and became the father of several children. Phoebe married David McKibbon. Another son, Rodman, married Adelaide Head. They settled in South Mrysburgh and raised three children: Albert, Walter A., and Alma. Another daughter of Nancy and Samuel Ostrander was Nancy who settled in Hillier. She and her husband, Samuel Gordon, became the parents of Mabel, Annie, and Robert. Nancy and her second husband, Thomas Gordon, were the parents of Matilda and Ethel. The youngest of the pioneer Ostranders offspring was Matilda. She was married twice, first to Robert Gibson and then to a Dr. Knight. Matilda raised one child, Phoebe, in Athol. The second pioneer Ostrander, Isaac, married Ursula McBean and settled in South Marysburgh. They had two children, John and Sarah. John and his wife, Martha Loney, were the parents of Merton, Arden, Isaac Jr., Justina and George. Sarah married William Dulmage and resided, as did her brother John, in South Marysburgh. Sarah and William Dulmage were the parents of Emma and Bertha.
