THE KETCHUM FAMILY

Thaddeus Ketchum arrived from Herkimer Co., NY in 1812. 

In 1812, Thaddeus Ketchum moved his family from Herkimer County, N.Y., in a sleigh drawn by a team of horses. Thaddeus first came to Green Bush in Hallowell but shortly afterwards bought a farm in Athol. He and his wife, Elizabeth Haukison, had eleven children.

The eldest son, James, settled in Athol Township and lived to the age of ninety-seven. His son, James, was a farmer in Athol as well as the Justice of the Peace for forty-seven years.
