Transcribed here by Linda Herman Pioneers of Prince Edward County BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES THE BRYANT FAMILY John and Betsy (Pierson) Bryant. John Bryant and his wife, Betsy Pierson Bryant, were the first of the Bryant family to settle in Prince Edward County. John Bryant was born October 27, 1785, and Betsy Pierson was born June 26, 1788. They came to the county in 1810 with their two children, Sarah and Nancy. Once settled in Prince Edward County, John and Betsy Bryant became the parents of six more children: Hannah, James, Samuel, Aaron, David and Joseph. Sarah Byant was born in New York State on March 5, 1807. She married George Roblin of Ameliasburgh. Nancy was born on August 20, 1808 , also in New York. Hannah was the first of the Bryant children born in Prince Edward County. Hannah, born September 20, 1808, married Roger B. Conger. James Bryant was born in August of 1815. He married Mary Dempsey. Samuel was born October 18, 1818 and he married Susan Bleeker. Aaron Bryant was born January 16, 1821. He married Sarah Lazier, and they lived at Roblin Mills where Aaron worked at milling. David Bryant was born on March 12, 1825. He married Hester Ann Conger. The last child of the original Bryant family, Joseph was born on August 25, 1828. He married Elizabeth Goss. The pioneer Bryants were not United Empire Loyalists. They came, in 18180, to Prince Edward County with a group of many other New Yorkers.
