JOHN BABCOCK

British Officer.

John Babcock was an English officer who came to America to fight in the Revolutionary War. When the war ended, he emigrated to Canada, settled in Ameliasburgh and advanced in his military career to the rank of Colonel.

John and his wife were close friends of the Weese family. Apparently both families, the Babcocks and Weeses, had spent some time in Adophustown before coming to Ameliasburgh.
