Transcribed here by Linda Herman Pioneers of Prince Edward County BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES THE HUBBS FAMILY Arrived at Picton Bay in 1797. The Hubbs family are said to be descendants of the Philosopher Hobbes family. Robert Hubbs came from Long Island to Picton Bay in 1797 with his wife, Jane Haviland, and eight children. A red frame house eventually replaced their log cabin. Robert left ten children leaving many descendants in prince Edward County. William was Robert's first son from an earlier marriage; he settled in Hillier and married Phoebe Ball.
