Transcribed here by Linda Herman Pioneers of Prince Edward County BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES GEORGE SAWYER DOOLITTLE Born in Whitestown, NY of French-German ancestry. The Doolittle ancestry was French and German. George S. Doolittle was born, on March 15, 1824, to parents who came to Prince Edward County from their birthplace of Whitestown, New York. Lyman and Hannah Doolittle left their hometown, which is now Utica, New York, not as United Empire Loyalists, but as settlers who sought a better life in Canada. George S. Doolittle married Margaret Ann Morden in 1848. As the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. William Morden, Margaret Ann was a member of a prominent pioneer Loyalist family. George and Margaret Ann Doolittle had eleven children, but some of them died at early ages. The surviving children included George Washington, Alwilda Jane, Marcus, Almeda and Eli. The family belonged to the Disciple Church. George Doolittle died in 1886. He is buried, as are his wife and some of their children, in the Burr Cemetery.
