Transcribed here by Linda Herman Pioneers of Prince Edward County BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES GEORGE FRASER Officer during 1837 Upper Canada Rebellion. George Fraser's father was a Scot. He was living in the Unites States when the Revolutionary War broke out. He was taken prisoner along with two others, by the Rebels. Fearing for their lives, thr prisoners managed to saw through their cell bars and escaped by making a rope from their blankets. When the war was over, his property was confiscated. All he had left was a single cow. George and his wife then travelled to Sackett Harbour, and from there to Kingston, and on to Adolphustown. Later on, George took his family to Sophiasburgh where he was granted seven hundred acres of land in one block. George's son, also named George, lived in Sophiasburgh also, and served as an officer in the Rebellion of 1837.
