Shoemaker / Mail Delivery Edward Ackerman was born in 1763. He married Miriam Garrison on Dec 3, 1788. He emigrated with many other Loyalists to Canada in the early 1800s and settled on lot 22 in South Marysburgh, south of Black River. A grandson of Edward's had been a Lieutenant in the 16th Battalion during the Fenian Raids. As a reward, he was granted a piece of land in 1903. He died, however before he was able to settle on the property. His eight sons and daughters all married in South Marysburgh, and only one, Sarah A., moved out of Marysburgh and went to Rochester, N.Y. Most of their descendants remained in Prince Edward County. Descendants of Hendrick and Rebecca Mary [Halenbeck] Ackerman by the Schooner Crew Hendrick Ackerman (Abraham, Lodowyck, David, Laurens Hendrickse) was born baptized March 14, 1756 in Paramus NJ - Dutch Reformed Church, and died January 06, 1849 in Fredericksburgh Twp., Lennox Co., UC. He married Rebecca Halenbeck. She was born August 30, 1758 in New Durham, New Jersey. Children of Hendrick Ackerman and Rebecca Halenbeck are: Johannis Ackerman, born September 10, 1780. He married Harriot Campbell November 11, 1807 in New York Dutch Church. Edwart (Edward) Ackerman, born May 02, 1783; died May 21, 1863. He married Meriam Garrison 1808 by Rev. Robt. McDowell1; born December 03, 1788 in Fredericksburgh Twp., L&A Co. ON; died July 14, 1845. Notes: Pride of Place; A story of the settlement of P.E. Co. - Brenda M. Hudson, pg.69 - "A close friend of Wm. Hudgin, he worked with him at shoemaking in Kingston. Later he delivered mail to N.Y. state in his wagon. Had 8 ch." She married Elisha Ames January 19, 1804 in Adolphustown. Eliner Ackerman, born Abt. 1786. She married Joseph Losee October 27, 1807. Henry Ackerman, born Abt. 1788. Sara Ackerman, born Abt. 1792. Elizabeth Ackerman, born Abt. 1795. Garrett H. Ackerman, born September 01, 1797; died 1853; buried Black Creek Cemetery, Marysburgh Twp., P.E. Co. ON. He married (2) Jemimah Minaker; born July 13, 1810 in Marysburgh Twp., P.E. Co.; died 1903. He married (1) Hannah Van Houten July 20, 1819 in Bergen NJ - Reformed Dutch Church; born 1795 in Bergen NJ; died April 1836 in Picton. Polly Ackerman, born Abt. 17985.
