From The Settlement of Prince Edward County by Nick and Helma Mika. Transcribed here by Linda Herman Pioneers of Prince Edward County BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES ABRAHAM CRONK From Poughkeepsie, New York. The Cronk family emigrated from Holland to New York State. Abraham was born in Poughkeepsie, fought in the Revolution, then came to Sophiasburgh among its first settlers. He was granted two hundred acres of land as a United Empire Loyalist, and his children also each received two hundred acres when they reached maturity. Abraham raised eight children, six sons and two daughters. His grandson, James B. Cronk, married Mintchie VanHorn, whose grandfather, Cornelius VanHorn, came to Adolphustown in 1812. James and Mintchie lived in the house built by his father in 1805. James; son, Wellington, did not marry and continued living in his father's home. His other son Henry Selwyn married a daughter of Cornelius Palmer, and occupied a portion of the large Cronk family home.
