Lovell's Carratraca Springs

A rising village near the South Nation River, in the
township of Plantagenet, county of Prescott. Celebrated for its mineral
springs of the same name, the property of Messrs, Winning, Hill & Ware of
Montreal, whose waters are so well and favourably known and have been
pronounced superior to any other on this continent in their medicinal
qualities. The annual consumption of this water already exceeds 100,000
gallons. A commodious hotel is now being built by Mr Winning and will be
open to the public in the course of next spring. Distant from Lancaster, a
station of the Grand Trunk railway 40 miles, from Browns' wharf a landing
on the Ottawa River, 5 miles, from Ottawa 40 miles, from Montreal 78 miles.
Mail Daily, the post office is at Plantagenet. Population about 50.
