Ontario County GenWeb Ontario County was established in 1849 from York County but was not a county until 1853. In 1974 Ontario County was dissolved and split amongst Simcoe County (Rama & Mara Townships), the Regional Municipality of Durham (all other townships) and Metropolitan Toronto. Ontario County was located in South-Western Ontario. Prior to 1853 - part of York County 1974-present - Part of the Regional Municipality of Durham, Metropolitan Toronto, and Simcoe County Important Note: Ontario GenWeb operates as a free service, but you may find links to websites or organizations which charge a fee.
