Northumberland County, one of Upper Canada’s original nineteen counties, was established in 1792 and named after England’s Northumberland County.
In 1850 Northumberland County and Durham County were united for municipal purposes. They remained united until 1974 when each became municipally independent.
The largest populace in Northumberland County is the city of Cobourg.

A host is a person who is knowledgeable about Northumberland County. Knowledge includes knowing what genealogy resources are available for this particular area of Ontario and where they can be found -- inside and outside of Ontario. Personal research experience in this area is a bonus.
