Johnston Burial Site

This burial site is believed to be Edward Johnston's private burial plot, located on the lot 15, Concession 11 of Bathurst Township.

Edward Johnston and his family arrived from Ireland on the ship "Atlantic" June 22, 1819, 1 male, 1 female, 1 male under 7 years and 1 female over 7 years.  They located on January 23, 1821 in the Township of Bathurst, on the above mentioned lot and concession.

Apparently Edward Johnston died in 1853 and we would assume that he was born in Ireland in the late 1700's.  The story goes that there are 2 men, 1 woman and a child buried here.

"In Memory Of Edward Johnston and Family. Arrived from Ireland June 22, 1819. Settled Lot 15 Con 11 Bathurst Twp. Jan 23, 1821. Edward died 1853 buried here with his wife and two children."

This new stone was erected by Ronald Martin McFarlane, a descendant of Edward Johnston.
