Coulter Private Burial Site

Coulter Private Burial Site

Lot 25, Con 2, Ramsay Twp.

Burial dates - Unknown

This burial site is known as "Cemetery Hill", and is believed to be the burial site of Charles Coulter  and Ann Young, along with some members of their family.  An infant child was born in December 1829 and died the same month.  Charles and Ann came from County Sligo , Ireland and settled on this lot on the 15th of October 1822.

Others in the area are likely buried here, whose names are not know at present.  We do know that some members of the McMunn family are buried here, including Thomas McMunn, who lived on Bill Proctor's farm on the 2nd line of Ramsay Township, near Charlie Rath's farm.  He was carried, in his casket, on poles on the shoulders of the neighbours.

Other Coulter members of this original family are buried in the various cemeteries, in the Auld Kirk, Almonte; St. Paul's Anglican, Almonte; Clayton Methodist; St. George's Anglican (Union Hall); and Clayton United Church Cemetery.
