At their wedding dinner, everything was of the first order, and arranged with exquisite taste. All passed off harmoniously and quietly until evening when all at once general confusion ensued. On looking around it was ascertained that the whole yard was filled with carriages containing the young folks who were to enjoy a merry hop and supper which afterwards they did with a will. After 10:00 the party broke up but soon it was ascertained that retreat was impossible as it had darkened to such a degree it would be dangerous to travel, therefore the parting had to be postponed until daylight dispersed the gloom sufficiently to enable them to find their way home. As the bride and groom are well known and being general favorites, esteemed and respected by many, a very large number of friends and members of most every denomination were present to witness the ceremony. The bride having been for several years a member of the choir, the Rev. Dr. Chisholm had the altar and sanctuary beautifully decorated both as a mark of respect and a mark of his appreciation of her service in the choir. In front of the altar railing were placed kneeling benches and seats on a carpeted floor for the young couple. As the bridal party entered the church, the organ, at which Miss Chisholm presided, pealed forth the joyous notes of the Wedding March. After a brief address to the young couple by Rev. Dr. Chisholm, the marriage ceremony was performed by Rev. John Hogan, brother of the groom. During the service, the choir sang several hymns. They cheerfully volunteered their services to testify their regard for the bride as a member of the choir and to congratulate her on her marriage. There were present besides the celebrant and the Rev. Dr. Chisholm, the rev. Thomas Davis, cousin to the bride, Rev. F. J. O’Reilly and Rev. Edward Walsh. The groom is a worthy young man who, by his industry and sobriety, has deservedly won the esteem and respect of all who are acquainted with him.
