Mrs. John Ferguson - Died - 23 June 1930.

Following an illness of nine years duration the death occurred on Monday at 1:15 a.m. at her home on Queen street, of Elizabeth Saunders, widow of the late Mr. John Ferguson at the age of 67  years.  Nine years ago deceased was stricken with a very serious illness from which she never fully recovered although able to be about.  Two weeks ago she was compelled to go to bed and was not able to be up again, death resulting from Bright's decease.  Although her suffering was great she never murmured, bearing her burden with patience.  A devoted mother and kindly neighbor, she was held in the highest respect and esteem and her death has caused deep regret amongst her numerous friends and acquaintances. The late Mrs. Ferguson was born on the 3rd line of Beckwith and was the daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. William Saunders.  After the marriage the couple resided in Numogate, remaining some time and later moved to South Mountain, thence to Beckwith.  From Beckwith the family moved to Carleton Place 17 years ago where they have since resided. Mr. Ferguson pre-deceased his wife about six years ago.  In religion the late Mrs. Ferguson was a member of St. James Anglican church.  Surviving are three sons, Messrs. Thos. Ferguson, John Ferguson, town, and Wm. Ferguson, Ottawa, and five daughters, Mrs. Julia Utman, Mrs. Robert Saunders, Mrs. Arch. Porteous, Mrs. Ernest Porteous and Mrs. Wm. Green, all of Carleton Place.  Three sisters, Mrs. Edwards, Red Deer, Alta; Mrs. D. Bennett, Mat????a, Mrs. John Bennett, Osgoode, and one brother, Mr. Sam. Saunders, town, also survive, all of whom have the deepest sympathy of a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.  The funeral, which was very largely attended, took place from the home of her son, Mr. Thos. Ferguson, to St. James cemetery for internment.  Rev. G. G. Wright conducted the service.  The pallbearers were Messrs. Ernest Porteous, Robt. Saunders, Wm. Green, sons-in-law, Ab Lewis, Joseph Saunders, and Thos. Saunders.  Among those from a distance attending the funeral were Mrs. John Bennett, Mrs. Robert McClelland, Mrs. Julia Edwards and Miss Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. J. Hunt, Osgoode, Mr. and Mrs. John James, Mr. Robert Lewis, North Gower, Mr. Hunt, Osgoode; Mr. Robert Saunders, Mr. and Mrs. N. Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. S. Miller, Orville Miller, Mr. and Mrs. F. Saunders and son, Lina, Mrs. A. Hagen, Smiths Falls, Mr. and Mrs. D. Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. William Ferguson, Mrs. R. Crozier, Mr. Edward Crozier, Ottawa, Mrs. John Bennett, Stittsville; Mr. and Mrs. S.  Bennett, Stittsville and many others.  The beautiful floral tributes  included: Wreath, The Family; Pillow, Mr. and Mrs. Crozier and family; sprays, Mr. and Mrs. Robt.
