Alex Allan – Ottawa Citizen January 4th, 1944

Almonte – Prominent in the business life of Almonte for half a century, Alex Allan, aged 75 years, died Sunday following an illness of some six months.  Mr. Allan conducted agents’ furnishing and tailoring shop for many years, retiring from business a few years ago.

Born near Perth , he was the son of the late Robert Allan and his wife Christina Fisher, and came to Almonte over 50 years ago.  Some 45 years ago he was married to Miss Jessie Angus Turbayne who survives, in addition to two children, Charles Turbayne of Needham , Mass. and Mrs. Fred Thom of Bellville.  There is also a niece, Miss Bessie McLaren of Ottawa, and two brothers and three sisters, Archie of Burritts Rapids, Robert of Scotch Corners; Mrs. W. J. Palmer of Wemyss, Mrs. Hugh McEwen of Perth, and Mrs. W. J. Blair of Fallbrook.

The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon to Auld Kirk cemetery.
